US History

Welcome to US History Class, below is the class syllabus:

 

11th Grade U.S. History

Welcome to U.S. History!  As part of the Social Studies curriculum, this course is designed to equip you with an in-depth understanding of God’s providence over our nation, from Christopher Columbus’ discovery of the New World to the present.  It is also designed to aid you in developing a biblical worldview.

  6. 1 Corinthians 10:31 – “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

Classroom Expectations

  1. Always be on time.
  2. Bring all your materials to class everyday.
  3. Only one person speaks at a time.
  4. The Golden Rule: Treat others as you would have them treat you.
  5. Stay focused.

Grades

The school’s grading scale is as follows:

A+      (100%)                            C+      (79-81%)

A       (95-99%)                        C        (75-78%)

A-      (92-94%)                        C-      (73-74%)

B+      (88-91%)                         D+      (71-72%)

B        (85-87%)                        D       (68-70%)

B-      (82-84%)                        D-      (65-67%)

F        (Below 65%)

Tests

There will be a test after each unit.  Each test will be comprehensive.  In other words, each test will include questions from material in previous units.  Therefore, take very good notes in class and study your notes and study guides daily.  It is your responsibility to study your notes every night and be prepared.

Quizzes

There will be 1-2 quizzes a week.  I will not necessarily tell you in advance when there will be a quiz, so be prepared!

Homework

You are expected to study your notes every night.  There will also be regular reading assignments and 1-2 written assignments a week.  These will include essays, bible studies, study guides, current events, etc.  Assignments turned in late will be reduced by one letter grade for each day it is late.

Projects

There may be a project assigned each quarter.  More detailed information will be provided later.

Class Grade

This grade will be based on participation in class, preparation, and overall behavior.

  4. Loose Leaf Paper
  5. Pens (black or blue only) & Pencils
